Influence of biofuels on the internal flow in diesel injector nozzles
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, the behavior of the internal nozzle flow of a standard diesel fuel has been compared against a biodiesel fuel (soybean oil) at cavitating and non-cavitating conditions, using a homogeneous equilibriummodel. Themodel takes into account the compressibility of both phases (liquid and vapour) and use a barotropic equation of state which relates pressure and density to calculate the growth of cavitation. Furthermore, turbulence effects have been introduced using a RNG k-ε model. The comparison of both fuels in a real diesel injector nozzle has beenperformed in terms of mass flow, momentum flux, effective velocity at the outlet and cavitation appearance. The decrease of injection velocity and cavitation intensity for the biodiesel noticed by numerical simulation at different injection conditions, predict a worse air–fuel mixing process. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Influence of nozzle geometry and injection conditions on the cavitation flow inside a diesel injector
Cavitation and turbulence in a diesel injector nozzle has a great effect on the development and primary breakup of spray. However, the mechanism of the cavitation flow inside the nozzle and its influence on spray characteristics have not been clearly known yet because of the internal nozzle flow complexities. In this paper, a comprehensive numerical simulation is carried out to study the intern...
متن کاملInvestigation the effects of injection pressure and compressibility and nozzle entry in diesel injector nozzle’s flow
Investigating nozzle’s orifice flow is challenging both experimentally and theoretically. This paper focuses on simulating flow inside diesel injector nozzle via Ansys fluent v15. Validation is performed with experimental results from Winkhofler et al (2001). Several important parameters such as mass flow rate, velocity profiles and pressure profiles are used for this validation. Results includ...

متن کاملNumerical investigation the effect of accumulator on reducing the pressure waves in a common rail fuel injection system of diesel engine
Pressure fluctuations during fuel injection are one of the factors that negative effect on performance of diesel engine. These fluctuations are caused by the rapid opening and closing of the nozzles and the creation of pressure waves in the fuel rail. One way to control these pressure fluctuations is to change the injector design and use an accumulator in the injector. This study is performed t...
